Ofcourse you can get awesome fake nails/ gel nails to make your nails look fab. But is it healthy? No, not really. Is it expensive? Yes! So I’m lining up some trends you can easily achieve by yourself.
Choose your base colour, let it dry. Apply the crackle coat above it. And look, there you have your crackled nails. Easy right?
2. Magnetic Nails
This one is as easy as the crackled one. Again you choose a base colour, after that you apply the magnetic topcoat. Hold the magnet over each nail to get a rippled effect.
3. Tie-Dyed Nails.
This is somehow more difficult and it takes a lot of time and polish to get the right effect. Here’s a guide:
-Apply a basecoat and let it dry. You can also add a coat of color to make the final design richer.
-Put vaseline on your fingers and cuticles, but not on your nails (It keeps the lacquer from sticking to your fingers.) Some people also recommend tape.
-Fill a shallow bowl with water and drip in the color combination you want. It really only takes a few drops of each color.
-Swirl the polish with a toothpick to get the desired effect.
-Dip fingertips in and soak for a minute or two to let the polish really stick. If you really want to be anal, do one finger at a time, and add more polish to the water as needed.
-Pull your fingers out, let excess water dry, then cover with a top coat.
4. Caviar Manicure
You basically just sprinkle beads all over some wet nail polish and let it dry. The kits are not really easy to find in stores, but I guess brands like ‘Essence’ will follow quickly enough. In the meantime you can try and DIY with little pearls.
5. All Sized Glitters
Available in red and blue too. Here it’s done with a golden base coat, but you can vary with colours. Black with the golden glitters is perfect for a NYE party for example. Really simple to do: just apply on a base coat. That’s it!
6. Stamp it!
Stamps are now available with most of the brands, and easy to use if you have a steady hand. Easier than applying with a pen, that’s for sure! Again, just choose a basecoat, choose your design and paint that design with another colour nail polish. ‘Essence’ has a starters package, where everything is easily explained.
7. Stick it.
I used them before, those nail stickers who promise to fit your nail perfectly. As I told you, I wasn’t really jumping of enthusiasm. But well, I guess since then, things may have improved. I had problems with cutting the extras at the end. And I should have used some glue too, cause they fell off kinda easy. But still, the idea behind it: I love it! You can also go for little stickers that you use on a base coat. Same effect as those stamps.
